What is Te Arawa Arataua?
Te Arawa Arataua, also known as Te Arawa Primary Sector or TAPS, is a collective of Te Arawa organisations, land trusts, and individuals that own, control, or administer more than 30,000ha of land across Te Waiariki for agriculture, horticulture, forestry and geothermal use.
What is the purpose of TAPS?
TAPS’ primary objective is to help member land trusts and incorporations increase productivity, profitability and environmental sustainability, so they can further their own hapū and iwi development.
TAPS is an advocacy organisation, providing a forum for its members to discuss common issues, explore new land-use and market opportunities, and participate in regional and national kaupapa that will lift performance and productivity.
Who does TAPS represent?
TAPS represents more than 30 Te Arawa member or affiliate organisations that own, control, or administer land across Te Waiariki for use in the primary sector.
It is the largest collective of Te Arawa landowners harnessing their whenua for use in the primary industries.
What are TAPS’ key priorities?
Key priorities for TAPS include helping members navigate government policy and regulations, providing tools and information about land use change and adapting to and mitigating the impacts of climate change.

TAPS is an advocate and connector, bringing together Te Arawa organisations and individuals to share knowledge and opportunities, collaborate, and drive environmental and economic solutions for the primary industries sector.
Our collective voice gives TAPS more visibility and presence when dealing with local and central government. TAPS also maintains well-established relationships with agencies and organisations across the primary industries sector.
